Why should the Chinese drill off the Florida Coast whe the US can’t?
I heard on the radio the day before yesterday that the Chinese are drilling in international waters off the coast of Florida. Why is it ok for them to do that but not OK for American companies to do the same?
And if hurricane Katrina couldn’t cause the existing off shore oil rigs to leak, just how dangerous can the current tchnology be?
Serious questions, would appreciate serious answers
Apparently you the radio did not give you the entire story.
China AND India are both setting up rigs in International waters. HOWEVER they will be using slat drilling (two important words).
They will actually be drilling into the oil deposits that are in U.S. waters, and belong the the U.S.A. In other words, they will be stealing oil from the United States.
India and China are already slant drilling off the coast of Cuba and stealing oil from Cuba.
Of course the reason the U.S. cannot set up and drill, is because of all the environazis here in the U.S. They take everything, timber harvest, new roads, oil drilling, heck even new parks end up in court because of “enviromentalists.”
The environazis are winning, and effectively tying the “hands” of the U.S. Couple that with “political correctness” and the U.S. is now virtually hog tied, and unable to tell China, and India to knock it the heck off, and not steal our oil.
I wonder how many people think President Kennedy would have allowed China & India to slant drill and steal our oil?
I wonder how many people think President Regan would have allowed China & India to slant drill and steal our oil?
Two more opposite Presidents you couldn’t have…one a staunch Democrat, the other a staunch Republican….yet I do not believe for a single instand that either one of them would have put up with the theft of a U.S. National resource.
Yes, Katrina, and Rita both proved that the oil drilling technology is pretty dang sound.
They also proved that the giant oil containers at refineries are very safe, even in terribly destructive hurricanes. They just fill the containers up with oil, and they stay put, despite titanic flooding, and storm surges.
The whole lower Nith Ward (all below sea level) should be turned into rice paddies, and a brand spanking new place for a refinery.
The U.S. has not had a new oil refinery built in OVER 30 years! Seems to me the news is also talking daily about food shortages, rice being one of the big ones.
So lets have more oil, more rice, and no longer build houses below sea level, and put people in danger. In other words, lets have a reality check! Why has common sense left the mind of most Americans?
Common sence tells me that if you build below sea level, and right next to the ocean, eventually nature is going to win, and the ocean will rush in and claim everything.
Common sence tells me that the population of the U.S. has grow by LARGE amounts in 30 years, and new refineries should have been built a long time ago.
Common sence tells me the U.S. is allowing an extremely dangerous precidence to be set by India and China if we allow them to get away with slant drilling of our oil reserves.
